Carnival Dog?

Do you remember when we were children/teenagers and would go to the fair or carnival and play those silly games where you were supposed to throw a ball, shoot a duck, or ring a glass and win a prize? At times, Kolle must think she is at a carnival and is always looking for an opportunity to win a prize. This afternoon while we were outside, I was sitting in a lounge chair reading a book and sipping a glass of wine while Doug was throwing the tennis ball to Kolle.

He would throw and she would run after it and retrieve it.
Doug decided to take a short break and leave the ball throwing up to me. As I read, Kolle would come and drop the ball next to me and I'd pick it up every now and then and toss it out into the yard. She would bring it back and drop it next to me and I might or might not pick it up and toss it. Apparently she became very perturbed with me and walked over to where my glass of wine was and proceded to drop the ball into the wine glass.
I guess she thought she had won a prize because she got my attention and Doug's, who found another ball and continued playing toss with her. Not only did she return the ball to him, she also returned with a prize stuck to her nose...an oak leaf. Kami is trying to figure out what Kolle has.

Beggar's Lice

As a child I remember walking in the fields and woods and coming home with little brown things called "beggar's lice" clinging to my clothes. Many years later I learned that these little lice were actually herbaceous plants that have seeds that love to cling to clothing. Until a few weeks ago, I had not seen beggar's lice in sometime then I noticed that one of the dogs had a few on her feet. Then today Charkee took off to the side yard for a few ""private" minutes and came back covered in those little brown lice! I really didn't pay much attention to Chark's situation until I noticed that she had this awful look on her face and was frantically trying to de-lice herself.

I decided I needed to help her get the little buggers out of her fur but quickly realized picking them out by hand(or fingers) was not going to get the job done. As you can see by the picture, it took quite a few tools to de-lice a curly, furry, squirming, beggared-liced dog! (We'll let Charkee tell you how the wine was)!

Charkee is now "lice" free and happy!

OH NO!!! She just took off for the side yard again!

In Memory of Bubba Joe

Bubba Joe passed away in the middle of the night last night. BJ was a very special cat; he loved his girls (the pups) and spent every afternoon in the bottom with them and Doug.

Every morning when I took Charkee and Kolle out, BJ would come running to greet them good morning and then would tag along with us until it was time to go back inside. I have never seen a cat who loved dogs as much as he did. I actually think he was part dog.

We have no idea how old BJ was. He was grown when he showed up at our house 2 years ago. We will miss you sweet boy! May you rest in peace...

I take Kinsleigh on walks around the neighborhood in the afternoons. When we get to pond, she loves to get a drink of water and watch her ducks. She often tries to go for a swim with them, but I am a mean mama and won't let her do so

New Years Beach Trip 2010

We were able to enjoy New Years at the beach. It was cold and windy, but everyone bundled up and we had a wonderful time. I don't have any pictures of Kristen and Nick because they left before Walker and I got down there. She will have to post some that she took.

Meet Kinsleigh!

This is my newest addition to my new home in Valdosta. The house was just to quiet without a little rugrat running around and making noises.

Kinsleigh is a mix between a Shih Tzu and Pekignese. I have to come to believe that she also has some Bulldog and Dachshund.

She was born on Aug 28, 2009. She joined me in Valdostda on Nov 19th and quickly found out what fun we have at my second home (Alice's Beach House) where she spent her second night
