Amanda and Walker

Rainy Days and Mondays

Today was both a rainy day AND a Monday. Thank goodness Ricky did hang around and, yes,  he may have frowned.  But this rainy day and Monday didn't seem to get him down. Ok, so he couldn't get outside  to work on the roof for the covered porch, but he didn't walk around like some lonely clown. He decided there was plenty to do inside such as installing door frames, doors, and base boards.
New door to small bathroom and bedroom.
Also door trim was installed.

Baseboard was installed in TV room.

Baseboard was installed in hall area.
This is where the old door was that went
into the kitchen.

for all this.

Doggies in the Window

I thought Charkee was the only one who sat in the window upstairs to check out what was going on outside but I discovered she has a partner in  crime. Today I found both Charkee and Kolle sitting in the window.

Kolle and Charkee watching to see
when Doug is coming home.

Still waiting on him...

Now there are both Charkee and Kolle lips on the
window panes. Hmmm...should I even worry
about Windexing the panes?

Saturday in Sasser and Thomaston

While Ricky was here in Thomaston working on our porch, Amanda, Kristen, and I took off for a road trip to Sasser to spend the afternoon with my cousin at "Alice and Jay".  We had a wonderful day watching folks shop for antiques and enjoyed lunch from a little deli called "Sassee Britches".

After we got back home, we had to check out what Ricky had done while we were gone. As usual, he was a hard workin' man.
Joists were installed for the covered porch.

Band around the porch was installed

Charkee is loving the new porch.

Kami decided to join Charkee on the porch.
Amanda and Kristen were just a little jealous
that Charkee got to check out the porch before them.

I enjoyed spending the day with my girls!

KC also wanted to check out Ricky's work.
Actually, KC should be named RC (Ricky's Cat) since she
helps him so much.

New Look

The new addition is taking shape and is giving the house an entirely new look. Well, I guess I should say, the whole renovation is giving both the inside and outside of the house a new look. Every room in the house has changed. Today Ricky and Sam continued working on the dining room and also put new boards for the porch to replace those that had rotted. While Ricky and Sam were outside working, the painter was putting primer on door frames, window frames, and molding and Chet, an awesome electrician, was replacing receptacles and switches. Chet has basically had to rewire the whole house and I will no longer have to live in a poorly lit or poorly wired house. I now have recessed lighting in all the rooms except the laundry room, closets, and upstairs bath.

house had to be replaced.

Tinted primer is being used to prime the frames.
The paint will be white!
Molding, around the great room opening, that
got a coat of primer today.
I was so excited to see this light switch today. Its the one that
is at the top of the stairwell but has been
covered up with sheetrock mud. Now we can turn the light
on at the top of the stairs and not have to walk down in the dark!

All the outlets are covered in blue painters tape.

Hard Working Man!

Yesterday Ricky finished installing the hardwood floors in the hall area and TV room. Today he and Sam began construction on the dining room! Wow! Things are really changing around here.

Ricky's a hard workin' man
Without a steel hard hat
He can saw, tile, hammer and paint
Do things with his hands that most men can't
He doesn't get behind with clouds in the sky
And what we ask him to do he’s willing to try!

stained a darker color.

Boy was I surprised today when I drove in the driveway! The framing for the dining room was up.
View of dining room from kitchen. The pups and the cat are
checking it out. The doors will be removed for the opening from the kitchen
to the dining room.
Double windows will go in this opening overlooking the south side.

Sorta looks like a swimming pool right now!

Anyone ready for mud boggin? Just come on out to our driveway!
With all the snow/ice/rain lately its the perfect mudboggin place!

I can't wait to get home in the evenin'
And see what Ricky has done again
Cause he's a hard workin', hard workin' man
